Sonic Strings is a teenage orchestra on the move!
Sonic Strings comprises 20-25 young players aged 13-18 who are also part of Coole Music Youth Orchestra. These young musicians meet on a weekly basis and memorise all their performance pieces – which range from classical to world music to contemporary pop and rock – and present them in choreographed ways. Sonic Strings have wowed audiences at concerts, festivals, weddings, launches or street happenings. During the summer months they can sometimes be found performing on Shop Street in Galway City.
Sonic Strings work closely together with Dala Violinisterna in Borlänge, Sweden. Since 2012, the two orchestras have visited and performed with each other in Ireland and Sweden numerous times, stayed in each other’s families and formed many friendships over the years.
